Laura Spinney has a very interesting news feature in the 10 Jul 2008 issue of the British weekly science journal Nature, titled "The Lost World". The piece is about human presence in and a 3D reconstruction of an ancient landscape that once connected England to mainland Europe. Artifacts have been dredged up from the North Sea at least since the 1930's, many from the paleolithic, but now and then some from the Mesolithic. The emerging picture is humans settled Doggerland and saw their lands reclaimed very slowly by the sea over many generations.
